I did a delivery yesterday to another excited couple, luckily (as it turned out) they were SO lovely I'm sure they'll forgive me for doing what I THOUGHT was my job, but actually, I was wrong (DON'T tell John... he knows very well I am NEVER wrong!!  In fact, I'm having cold shivers just thinking about being... you know... that word.

Ridiculously Easy Fancy Bread

Posted by Bee & John on December 22, 2014 at 8:15 AM Comments comments (0)

Last year, I posted a picture of a Brioche Santa face that looks amazing in the pictures.... but ended up looking like.... at best Cartoon Santa - at worst Demented Santa... when most people actually tried to make it.

So... the hunt fwas on or something easier BUT just as fancy looking!

I saw these pics on Pinterest and I wanted to know just HOW easy these were and didn't look at the instructions, merely at the pictures, and then made them.  in a word....

Some of you might remember a picture I posted on my facebook page that looked like this.....

There was a bit of speculation on what it was and I was both heartily amused and VERY embarrassed... but I was still working with the recipe so I hadn't put it up.... until now.

I've been tweeking it and tweeking it and finally got it about right I think... and NO... this won't happen to you now!

This post is about the new recipe for the Meat and Chicken Stock Concentrate Paste

First of all - Be aware that if you are using the chip it has slight discrepencies to what is in the cookbook - here is ...

The Cook Book Recipe Shuffle

Posted by Bee & John on October 29, 2014 at 3:15 AM Comments comments (0)

Oh No!!!  Another Cookbook?  Well, yes!  It would make sense we get a new cookbook for the new Thermomix 5.

Why?  Of course us recipe junkies would say why not... but... i would say that there are going to be a WHOLE lot of people who have the TM31 and they are going to KEEP it!   So... what good is a cookbook that is virtually the SAME as the oen that they would already own?

After I heard about the new Thermomix, I realised I have ...

Like mushrooms?  I do!  I never used to, but I have come to really apprecieate them over the past few years..

My only introduction to them as a child was canned champingons (little button mushrooms). But I started to actually enjoy them RIGHT after I tasted my first hot meal made in the thermomix... the Mushroom rissoto at the demo!

What are they really? Well, according to Wikipedia they are "gobbley gook....... 1000 wo...

Cups to Grams - a guide

Posted by Bee & John on April 21, 2014 at 4:45 AM Comments comments (2)
I was fooled recently by a website who SERIOUSLY missjudged their weights when she converted her cups into grams and I ended up with a very weird cake!  So, I thought I would put this form together to help other people get NORMAL cakes :-)

Is it exact?  Perhaps not minutely exact - but hopefully a darn good guide!!
I used spreadsheet f...

Well... it comes to some people late.  SOME people take forever to get information filtered through their brain!  NOT saying that'd be me.... of course not!  Never!  Maybe :-(

I again eat humble pie.  NOT a very tasty meal at the best of times, but as my darling John will be proud (yeah right!!) to tell you, I'm NEVER wrong.  So.... don't tell him.... ok?

I waited with baited breath for the In the Mix 2 cookbook.  Looks GO...

Tomato Sauce - cooking in bulk

Posted by Bee & John on January 19, 2014 at 10:30 PM Comments comments (1)

Yumm!!  Home made tomato sauce!!!

I grabbed a box of tomatoes yesterday, quite cheap!  and proceeded to make the next 12 months quota of tomato sauce.

Is it cost effective?  Well, here's the breakdown.

3/4 box of tomatoes.  $8 for the box so that's $6

1.5k of plums, off our tree so free.  I would imagine that this t...

I was making a batch of fruit mince tarts - mini ones so that we can eat OTHER things too at Christmas LOL - anyway... I was thinking about the method I use to make my own Patty Pans.

I thought you might like to use this as we head into a busy baking time :-)

Why ?  They're quick... they're easy and.... they're quick!  Hope you find them useful!

Beef Cheeks in the Varoma

Posted by Bee & John on December 3, 2013 at 3:25 AM Comments comments (3)

John introduced me to Beef Cheeks, cooked sloooooooowly in a pot on the stove.  They really are delicious!!  Tender and, just like lamb shanks, need a) a lot of cooking and b) provide a delicious thick nourishing stock.

John - my darling John - changed his name to Doubting Thomas for a while there after I casually asked (after he burnt a big pot of beef cheeks) if they would be ok in the Thermomix - he said he doubted it!

So.... over the last few ...

Sweet and Sour Sauce without pineapple or vinegar

Posted by Bee & John on December 2, 2013 at 4:10 AM Comments comments (4)

John, the love of my life, has a few defects.  One of them is that he hates cooked pineapple.  To me, that had excluded one of my favourite sauces... sweet and sour.

Googling through recipes one day I came across this AMAZING (yes, it IS worth capitals) sweet and sour recipe.  What makes it so good?  Well, it isn't really the type of sauce when you think of Sweet and Sour - it isn't clear and sweet - it is thick, a LITTLE sweet and REAL tasty!  Almos...

Bee's Coleslaw - AKA - Making Salad in your Thermy

The very first time I EVER made a salad (A coleslaw) I actually made coleslaw juice.  Does that sound familiar??

Ever since then, I NEVER wanted to make coleslaw mush ever again.  And I didn't.....  I learnt a trick... easy peasy salad... YOU can make the best salad in the blink of an eye.

To add even more value to this post, I'll add the recipe for my favourite style of coleslaw - and name it after myself..... Why??  Because I can :-). ...

Gifts made in your Thermomix

It has clicked over to October - although it is hard to believe at the moment, there are only a few weeks before we all start thinking about what to get whom... where from... how... and so on.

It is fantastic that we can make our own gifts so very easily in the Thermomix - some can be made at the last minute... some take a little time.. but with some forethought and just a few easy steps, you will be...
