Well, finally... FINALLY... I made the Salami Fettuccine from the Everyday Cookbook. In my defence there are SO many fabulous recipes out there.... I just didn't get around to it
Well... the question is, of course, is HOW does it do the long fettuccine in the bowl? I'll put you out of your misery early on... it did it VERY well! Of Course!
I did change the recipe a tiny bit... I didn't have any fresh tomatoes so I used a tin of chopped tomatoes in tomato juice - and I didn't add the cream and only a touch of milk (that's all I had AND I'm not fond of creamy/milky sauces) - I just used water instead where it called for the dairy. Mind you we added some parmesan at the serving up stage... mmm!
To say it was delicious is rather redundant, as most recipes are both easy and yummy in the Thermomix, but I wasn't sure how tasty just 100g of salami would be in the sauce. It was a lovely, mild -but more than tasty- sauce.
I broke the fettuccine up in half like the recipe calls for, and I didn't have any problems. It was all cooked beautifully and seperate.
LESSON: This recipe would easily feed 4 adults, but because there was just the 2 of us I added less pasta. That would have been fine if I had realised that all the liquid in the recipe was for the larger amount of pasta - so the sauce was a bit runny. If using less pasta.... use less liquid!
HINT: We used a lovely, low fat, salami which I chopped up before adding. I think it would have been even better with a spicy salami (John has a lovely spicy one in his shop). Talking about it with John later, we agreed that it would have also been nice with
