Our Ticks of Yum

Hungarian Goulash

I had been putting this recipe off.... the ingredient list looked WAY too long... but today I thought I would give it a go.

My advice?  Give it a go...... don't be put off by the list of ingredients - a long list of ingredients do NOT equal a long preparation time.

The cloves of garlic and onion was chopped and sauting while I chopped up the meat. The meat was browning while I was collecting the spices and chopping the tomatoes - and it was all in for the 40-60 minute cook in 10 minutes and I had cleaned up and was on to my coffee and cake in less than 15 minutes. (I'm making dinner early - to re-heat because we have a demo tonight... sorry about the onion reaction hosts!!)

I didn't follow the recipe wholly (WHAT a surprise) - for a start, I only put in half the number of onions... goodness... even that amount will mean that I need to find a chemist which sells charchol tablets LOL - and for a second.. I didn't have all the spices - but from that beautiful aroma that is wafting from the top of the Thermomix as it's cooking... that's not going to matter.  I had the main one (paprika / bay leaves).  I decided to make it up to the recipe by throwing in a couple of cloves... maybe wouldn't do that the next time, but it is smelling fantastic so I don't care :-)

This was actually the first time I had browned the meat in the thermomix... how easy was that!!

HINT: give it a go, it was actually very easy to put together

HINT: break it gently to your husband when you have raided his wine stocks without him around to point out one to use.
