Washing powder - Grandma used grated soap... but its all mysterious now isn't it? All "special" ingredients and little blue flecks that are SURE to clean your clothes properly... right?
I mean.... what is IN your detergent? Wikipedia has a list of chemicals a couple of pages long - cleaners, foamers, ANTI foamers, bleaches, enzymes, softeners, perfume, and a LOT of science experiement type of chemical names.

Before Christmas, Super Kitchen Machine put this amazing list of gifts you can make in the Thermomix! One that really caught my attention was the Lemon Cleaning Concentrate. How good did that sound!! Well... unless you don't celebrate it - Christmas is close enough to send the wobbles through most of our knees as we plan on what to do for Xmas.

Another of my chirstmas gifts that I gave away this year (as mentioned in an earlier post) is some face cream.
It was super easy, just lanolin, sweet almond oil and a few drops of essential oil.
The first lot I made (in fact all the subsequent batches too) seperated. It did combine together at first but then seperated a little while later. What I noticed, as I shook the finished jars with a worried face, is that every time I shook them, they too...Read Full Post »

For those of you living under a rock... We have just gone through Christmas. This year our whole family - as immigrants [from Netherlands] it isn't a huge group, consisting of my dad, my 3 siblings, myself and our partners and kids - all met for Christmas in beautiful East Gippsland - First time I was able to take John to all my childhood haunts... but that's altogether another story
