Posted by Bee & John on November 9, 2014 at 1:15 AM

I was delivering a lovely new TM5 (THAT's a silly statement.. I would hardly deliver an OLD one would I?) Anyway.... this lovely new owner decided to make a Brioche... and of course I said "lovely.... I love the Brioche recipe".... Up comes the recipe on the chip and I'm thinking... "WHAT on EARTH is happening with the Brioche recipe?!?!

It was SO different I thought that it was an error on the chip... or maybe an error in the cookbook....

BUT I spo...

In The Mix 2... Who (ifyou already HAD In the Mix 1) didn't rush right out and get it!!??

Who (and be honest) didn't look at the recipes and think two things.... 1- WOW and 2- Too fancy for me.

I've learnt (amazing how this old dog CAN be taught) that the cookbook is a new format for cookbooks... yes there are elaborate, fancy pants, recipes - but really it is a HUGE collection of recipes grouped not only into their subgroups (mains, soups, deserts etc) but...

Picnic Bread

Posted by Bee & John on January 29, 2014 at 6:35 PM

You might have heard that I met enough happy new Thermomix owners last year that I earned a trip to South Africa!!!!  Well.... that pleasure isn't going to go unpunished.  My lovely manager, Michelle, has asked me to do a cooking segment in our next meeting... and to cook something South African.  Well.... what the heck is something "South African"??

I turned to a very useful search engine and there were some lovely sounding recipes all for the taking.  ...

Posted by Bee & John on December 22, 2013 at 1:20 AM

I was making a batch of fruit mince tarts - mini ones so that we can eat OTHER things too at Christmas LOL - anyway... I was thinking about the method I use to make my own Patty Pans.

I thought you might like to use this as we head into a busy baking time :-)

Why ?  They're quick... they're easy and.... they're quick!  Hope you find them useful!

FIRST: get a piece of baking paper (the non-stick sort... otherwise... what's the poi...

Double Choc Pretzel Cookies

Posted by Bee & John on December 21, 2013 at 3:25 AM
Have you been seeing photos like the one below, all around the thermo-cyber-space?  On websites and your TV?

That's because they're an intriguing recipe and, lets face it, one of the easier things, in the fantastic In The Mix 2, to make

I have made them 3 times now... all in the name of research!!!... and I must say that I have a relatively pertinent hint to give you when you are making these, as well a great alternative/addition.

Breakfast Bikkies

Posted by Bee & John on February 7, 2013 at 6:15 PM

As I was bouncing like a pinball machine ball from recipe to recipe on the internet, I came across these - no sugar, no dairy, no egg, healthy type of biscuit that SOUNDS yummy.  The original recipe is here.

Now... don't get all excited when I say no sugar.  Definately you do not ADD sugar, but there is a heap of banana and dried fruit in there so Diabetic's bewar...

Remember Matchsticks? I haven't had them for YEARS!!

I made some little chicken pies recently and had a little of the EDC rough puff pastry left over so I thought I would make up a couple of Matchsticks, they were DELICIOUS and I wish I had scrapped the mini pies to leave enough for more than a couple of Matchsticks!

  1. Make up a batch of EDC rough puff pastry (for help and support,

Rough Puff Pastry

Posted by Bee & John on October 23, 2012 at 6:10 PM

I have heard that puff pastry is difficult. My step-daughter, who is training to be a patisserie chef, has done it by hand and certainly claims so!

But.... Puff Pastry is another thing that you and the Thermomix can make easily and to stupendous results!!

The recipe and method I used was from the Everyday Cookbook - I just followed the recipe - to great effect I might add! Helene, on

Crisp Biscuits (WW conversion)

Posted by Bee & John on August 9, 2012 at 5:30 PM

I made another batch of these yesterday (along with numerous other bikkies in a bake fest) and posted on my Tick of Yum facebook page that the recipe for one of them (a Womens Weekly recipe I had converted) was on this website.... well.... apparently I have't done it!

Not putting up this recipe almost constitues cruelty to you all - because they are my favourite bikkie.  Not pretty and probably not a finalist in the High Tea stakes - but they are easy as and absolu...

Cinnamon Scrolls

Posted by Bee & John on June 25, 2012 at 10:20 AM

I am a big fan of Steph Berg's website - and what do you know.... last week a picture of some amazing looking Cinnamon Scrolls popped up - the recipe is from the Australian Recipe Community.

These were the first recipe I have seen that didn't rely on a yeasted dough.  Nothing wrong with yeast of course - but it does rely on you having the time for the whole proving thing.

So, lo...

Caramel Mud Cake (ish)

Posted by Bee & John on May 2, 2012 at 6:10 PM

for my birthday LAST year I recieved a birthday card from Thermomix Head Office (Aust) with a wonderful recipe in it... and have been dying to try it ever since.  Every now and again I would find the card amoungst my recipes and think "mmmm.... must do that"

Finally... I did!!  Not for anything special... just for us.

I have never made a Mud cake before, I thought that they were hard to make - and expensive too with heaps of eggs and choc.  W...

Magic Bean Cake

Posted by Bee & John on February 15, 2012 at 9:00 PM

The Magic Bean cake??

Sounds like something that was popular in the 60's right?  Well.... if they named the bean in the title, most of us would have turned our noses up and it would be a lonely, unused recipe lost in cyberspace.

I know that when I heard that it was made with RED KIDNEY BEANS I immediately DID turn my nose up and passed on it.  Until I heard person after person saying "oh the Magic Bean cake is SO delicious!".

Chocolate Hazelnut Shortbread Swirls

Posted by Bee & John on February 13, 2012 at 12:50 AM

I was wandering... lost.... through a search engine one day and I came across a website for the Thermomix that had this amazing looking recipe that I thought would be just the thing for when my sister came to visit.

I got the recipe from this website, which seems to be a website dedicated to a thiermomix Team Leader's team of Thermomix consultants, but ...

Now first of all.... I didn't make these!  But how GOOD are they!!  Sorry this is way past the right time of year for it... but keep in mind for next Xmas or just make them anyway!!!!!

Basically, a tartlet of some sort (use either warmed bikkies shaped in a muffin pan or perhaps the almond pastry) and filled with a chocolate filling.  (don't go to a heap of trouble, just melt a little chocolate and some butter together with a little cocoa so it doesn't taste t...

Almond Pastry Tartlets

Posted by Bee & John on January 13, 2012 at 9:10 PM

At a BBQ our team had before Christmas, Fran (our group leader) brought these tiny little almond pastry tartlets!  Oh Boy!  I scoffed the lot!  (or that's what it felt like at the time - I THINK some other people had some)

So... I had to make them!  I even bought a mini muffin tray to make them in.  Now in all honesty, you don't need to make them in mini muffin trays... try larger pie dishes, or muffin pans or anything that you would NORMALLY use for...

Were they Easy?  SO easy, so so SO easy!

Mini muffins - icing sugar - pointy strawberries - you don't need instructions do you??

Did they have to be on choc muffins?  Nope!  Try bikkies.

Marzipan!  Coming from Dutchy-land as I do, our family sorta LOVES Marzipan.  I had it in lots of things as a kid, my dad often bought boxes of chocolate marzipan sticks or cocoa covered "potatoes" for the kiosk we had when I was small... but they often didn't make it on the shelves LOL.

Marzipan isn't something I have had much of lately - it's expensive for a start - and for a second - WAY too yummy.  But the holiday season is upon us, a family christmas gath...

Muffins - Friands

Posted by Bee & John on November 2, 2011 at 11:20 PM

I don't know why it has taken me SO long to get around to making the muffins in the Everyday cookbook.  My sister keeps telling me how yummy it is... but it is one of those recipes I am GUNNA do!

Well.... a recent purchase of groovy friand shaped muffin tray had me scrambling for the recipe.

I didn't do the banana choc-chip version as John, for all his wonderful qualities... doesn't like banana and I didn't want to eat them all myself (because I COULD ...
