Tomato ketchup (we ALL know that's really Sauce!!)

I just wanted to remind you that there is no better time to get this sauce underway.  It is SO easy and SO cheap to make (at the moment with everything so ripe, ready and cheap) and SO SO delicious!

I had some beautiful plums given to me by a wonderful Nonna at a demo recently (That one was a Hoot!!) and after stuffing my face with them, I made a double batch of sauce!

Caesar Salad dressing

My daughter will tell you that I am a bit of a caesar salad nut.  And with that information my daughter's partner (head chef at Jones the Grocer - Melbourne) - when FIRST meeting me... made me a Caesar Salad.  He isn't the type to be nervous, but his was a fantastic salad!!!

I generally order it when we go out and will drive for miles to go to places that deliver a very nice one.

BBQ Bourbon glaze/sauce

This is from the small, itty bitty - but recipe packed - little "Entertaining with Nico" cookbook.

It was wow!  delicious.  Mind you... we didn't have any boubon so I used whisky :-).

It made heaps... 1 500g jar and then more than enough to baste the chicken we were having for dinner (ignore the black bit... bit too close to the element LOL) ........and then roasted it... MMMMMM!!!!

Chilli Jam

This is yet another of Annabel Langbein's recipes (Saturday's on ABC at 6) - this sounded so good I just HAD to try it!!

In the TMX bowl, put...

  • 1/2 head of garlic, peeled
  • 4 large red chillies
  • To make it less hot....
    • de seed and pith the chillis for less heat 
    • swap half a large deseeded red capsicum for 2 of the chillies 
  • 3cm of ginger, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 kaffir lime leaves - deveined

Another of Annabelle Langbein's recipies I am now converting to the Thermomix :)

I am really enjoying her show... this is from someone who would rather have an girlie exam at the docs rather than watch cooks on TV!  There isn't an episode of hers that I haven't gone... "mmmm.... must try that!!"

Hazelnut Hot Chocolate paste

I've just tried something (from an american cookbook) that is absolutely delish!!!!  Technically you don't need the thermomix to mix this up, but worth putting it here anyway.

In a bowl, mix together

  • 100g of Choc Hazelnut spread (from Everyday Cooking cookbook)
  • 50 g of skim / full cream milk powder
  • little vanilla sugar/paste

mm!  this is delicious and makes quite a bit.  Use it as a marinade too - easy and YUM!!

• 15g Sesame Oil
• 1 onion peeled and quartered
• 3 Garlic Cloves, peeled

Lemon Butter

This was always going to be interesting :-)  I was given a wonderful lemon butter recipe when I first tasted, and fell in love with, lemon butter at a friend's place a few years ago.  

So... I thought I would put my wonderful hubby to the test.  Remember, he is the cook of the house.. I follow recipes.   He has been able to take a mouthful from my plate of a meal that I love... and in that mouthful of food he can break it down into it's separate component...

I've been wanting to try making our own tomato sauce for a while (I'll call it tomato sauce from here on in... none of this Ketchup business LOL - but to differenentiate it from the tomato sauce in the cook book that is to do with a pasta base, I had to name it tomato ketchup in the heading)

Sticky Date Pudding with Butterscotch sauce

Thermomix Sticky date pudding. Honestly the best I've ever tasted!!

It may have a little to do with John doing the cooking and me coming home and eating it LOL.

It was fantastic the next day as a cake too. 5 Ticks of Yum!
