Another of my chirstmas gifts that I gave away this year (as mentioned in an earlier post) is some face cream.
It was super easy, just lanolin, sweet almond oil and a few drops of essential oil.
The first lot I made (in fact all the subsequent batches too) seperated. It did combine together at first but then seperated a little while later. What I noticed, as I shook the finished jars with a worried face, is that every time I shook them, they took longer to seperate again - so don't panic if yours seperate. Just give it a shake and it melds beautifully together again.
HINT: Put the cream into a little plastic pump bottle. That way you can shake without it goes everywhere
As for using it... it goes on oily. Looks oily and you seem to use quite a bit compared to some of the commercial creams. What is different though, is that it soaks into the skin beautifully and is not oily at all in a matter of a minute or so. It is BEAUTIFUL on your skin which ends up soft and supple and I use it on my face without any worry about it being too oily!
I do a double batch now (lots of people got it for Christmas) and it fills a few jars, but not too much. The first lot I made I used rose water to add the fragrance, the second time I added a few drops of Lemon Myrtle oil. JUST a few drops, don't go overboard or it'll be too strong.
