This is also from the Vegetarian cookbook - 1/3 normal bread dough, 1/3 mixed with spinach (although I didn't have any so used broccoli) and 1/3 with minced beetroot. Then plaited.
This really was delicious - but it didn't go as well with the pea and ham soup that I made it to go with than I though. I think, personally, that this is a bread that is good with a BBQ or as an entree or as a dipping bread - unless you had mixed the bread with ingredients of the soup / main dish you were eating.
The beetroot part of it was PARTICULARLY yummy and would be a special bread all on it's own!
HINT: because the different ingredients, the rolls were different sizes which made the plait an odd shape. I think that next time, I will roll the portions flat and put the largest on the bottom, then the next largest etc. Then I will ROLL it up. That would look really speccky!!
HINT: make sure you aren't stingy with the salt, it will enhance the flavours
HINT: what is left, cut THIN and dry out as crackers
