"Hello Sweetie" Hair Spray

Posted by Bee & John on July 7, 2013 at 9:00 PM

Hello there!  If you know about my new book you know I'm just about to release one, if you don't - I have written a new book with cleaning and beauty recipes.

You will find more information on my new "Creams an Cleaning Book" page

Here's a recipe from the book that you might like to try...

“Hello Sweetie” Hairspray

Now I’m not going to tell you that home made hairspray is as good as your purchased lacquer….. but gee it’s close and fabulous to use for casual use.

Generally the only difference between a general, light, holding hairspray that you make yourself to one you buy, is that the purchased aerosol disperses a slightly finer mist.

This is easy to use, easier to make and washes out beautifully.

  • 30g of sugar
  • 300g of sterilised filtered or rain water
  • Put all in a sterilised Thermomix bowl
  • Boil the mixture for 10 minutes, Varoma Temperature, on speed 1, MC off
  • When cool, you can add a drop or two of essential oil if you like, then dispense into a spray bottle that has a fine spray nozzle.

To use

  • Spray LIGHTLY on your hair – that’s it

Although it is all boiled, I still would replace this every week – those germies just LOVE sugar water!

Note: if you are finding it too strong, reduce the sugar. If you don’t want to make it every week, mix a tablespoon of rubbing alcohol with the final product to help preserve it for 2-3 weeks OR freeze it in weekly portions.
