This is a recipe from www.tenina.com - I was reading her "top 10 breads" article when I came across the mention of pretzels.
I have always wondered what the bigger, bready type pretzels are like. I've had the dry ones, the little ones in the packets... but not those you see in the shopping malls. To be honest they look WAY too oily/greasy for me - and pricey too!
These are lovely and non-greasy!! and cheap to make!!!
But, not having had them before... I only did half the pretzel recipe
- making 12 little ones rather than 13 bigger ones. OH BOY! I wish I had done the full batch!! Although.... the little ones were a nice size to eat (mind you I ate 2 or 3 at a time!) and easier to put on the tray for baking.
Very nice the next day, split in half with a little butter too!
and no... they weren't too salty :-) The toppings I have here are poppy seed or salt. My next batch might have parmesan cheese, or bacon and cheese, or dried fruit in them!
